Removal of brown pigmentation (sun spots and age spots) through IPL photo rejuvenation

Treats problems like:

  • Sun spots and age spots on face, décolleté ( chest area) and hands
  • Freckles
  • Pigmentation
  • Hand renewal

Due to excessive sun exposure (even when we where much younger) sunspot or age spots may now appear on the face, hands and chest (décolletage) areas. Facial imperfections in skin colour can detract from your wellbeing and appearance; no matter how young and healthy you may feel.

By the process of IPL photo rejuvenation, pigmentation can now be very successfully reduced or eliminated. Beginning with your first treatment, your skin will have a more even tone, with a smoother look and feel. Sunspots will fade and freckles be reduced. The evening out of skin colour will results in a more youthful looking skin.

Different factors will determine your specific response to the treatment and also how many treatments will be required to achieve the desired results. Usually after a series of 3-5 gradual treatments (with little or no “down time”) you will be able to see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation and a more radiant looking skin.

How is IPL photo rejuvenation performed?

A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. The smooth surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light is applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a rubber band. Brown spots from sun damage as well as age spots respond well to IPL treatment.

How do other treatments compare to IPL photo rejuvenation?

Although there are other treatment options available to treat sun damaged skin, from simple creams to deep chemical peels, some of them are quite painful with potentially dangerous side effects. Skin specialists have always sought for treatments that provide dramatic results with low risk and almost no “down time”. IPL photo rejuvenation provides the best long term results with the minimum discomfort. It is a safe, non- invasive treatment that treats the effect of sun damage without disruption of the skin’s surface, (therefore no down- time). Simultaneously it encourages the formation of new collagen and elastin, thereby improving overall skin texture.

What results can I expect after treatment ?

Although people differ in their response to the treatment (how many treatments etc.) the results are usually long- term and with proper sun protection can persist for many years. The effect of the IPL skin rejuvenation will be evident already after the first treatment, but will continue to improve over the next few months after treatment as the new collagen builds up.

Am I a good candidate?

You will not be suitable for treatment if you:

  • You have a dark skin colour (darker that Fitzpatrick sun tanned on the area to be treated, have used a sun bed within the last month, or have used a fake tan on the area to be treated in the last 2 weeks.
  • Are pregnant
  • You have had an epileptic seizure in the last 2 years.
  • There may be some other medical conditions that mean you cannot be treated. The laser therapist will discuss these with you at the consultation.
